APPLIED BEHAVIOR ANALYSIS (ABA)
What is ABA?
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a science that uses evidence-based findings and applies them to change socially significant behavior. ABA focuses on decreasing challenging behaviors that may be interfering with your child’s ability to interact successfully in their environment. Meaning, the therapy is tailored specifically to the needs of your child and your family.

Additionally, therapy sessions concentrate on teaching replacement behaviors to allow your child to gain access to their wants and needs in an appropriate way. This includes teaching appropriate functional communication, independent play skills, adaptive daily living skills, social skills and other adaptive behaviors. ABA places an emphasis on using reinforcement-based procedures as well as evidence-based proactive and reactive strategies to increase appropriate behaviors and reduce problem behaviors. ABA can be used with a variety of individuals and settings including school, community settings, and in-home.
ABOUT OUR PROGRAM
At Cornerstone, behavior therapy is implemented by Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) who are trained and qualified to carry out behavior programs and work through challenging behaviors. All RBTs are overseen and supervised by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) who individualizes programs to fit each client’s needs. Parent education is also provided as a component to all of our ABA programs to provide parents tools in behavior analysis that can assist with your child’s generalization of learned skills outside of therapy sessions.

Our RBTs undergo a comprehensive 40-hour training that include direct observation overseen by BCBAs. Additionally, our RBTs are trained to provide a variety of services that utilize discrete trial training (DTT), pivotal response training (PRT), and natural environment teaching (NET).
